Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has praised the decision-making of Cornwall Council’s Central Planning Committee following their decision today to refuse the latest Newquay cliff top planning application.
At today’s Central Planning meeting, councillors voted 11-4 to reject the plans, which would have seen a large number of houses built on the prominent site of the former Trebarwith hotel on a cliffs edge in the centre of Newquay.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I applaud the councillors on central planning who have again made a sensible and entirely appropriate decision in refusing this inappropriate development.”
“I am pleased to have supported local residents in campaigning against inappropriate cliff top development in places like Newquay and will continue to do so should other such applications come forward.”
