Cornwall Council will be receiving another £607,000 of Government funding to promote walking and cycling schemes in Cornwall.
The funding is being making available under tranche two of the Government’s £175 million Active Travel Fund.
Welcoming the funding was St Austell and Newquay MP Steve Double, who said:
“With projects such as the Saints Trail linking Perranporth and Newquay and the emerging project joining up cycling and walking infrastructure between the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, it is important that we do all we can to encourage and continue to invest in facilities that promote active travel. Not only is this good for our environment it is also better for our own physical and mental wellbeing. “
“This additional £607,000 from the Government is very welcome and I will be writing to Cornwall Council to ask them how they will be using this money.”
