Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has welcomed confirmation of an additional £34,400,558 of Government funding for Cornwall Council.
Earlier this month the Government announced £1.6 billion of additional funding for local government to help them respond to coronavirus (COVID-19) pressures across all the services they deliver.
Cornwall Council’s funding will be delivered in two tranches, which Cornwall Council can use during the COVID-19 pandemic to continue to provide vital services to those who need it the most.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I am pleased to see confirmation of the additional funding Cornwall Council will be getting from the Government to help maintain vital services for the people of Cornwall and particularly the most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“I am pleased that the Government is recognising the important work local councils are playing in our fight against this virus and I look forward to seeing this money being used to enable Cornwall Council to continue its work at this important time.
