Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has congratulated local students for their achievements while on the National Citizenship Service (NCS).
Visiting the two groups who have been working in and around St Austell, performing tasks including refurbishing the Asda subway, tidying Cemetery Park and gardening at Pondhu School and Trevarna Care Home, Steve said,
“It is great to see so many young people working in and engaging with their communities while going through the NCS programme. I have been a supporter of NCS since its inception and it is always wonderful to see our next generation growing in confidence and picking up many valuable life skills while participating in this excellent scheme.”
“I see NCS as an excellent opportunity for young people to pick up vocational and non-classroom-based skills while also having a good time, and applaud the recent groups of students who I visited, who are some of the best participants yet. I look forward to working with NCS organisers and young people in the future to ensure the scheme continues to deliver in the best possible way”.
