Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has today met with Business Minister Richard Harrington and Cornish Lithium to discuss exciting future plans for lithium extraction in Cornwall.
This follows recent reports in the media about the huge potential of extracting this important metal that is vital for many modern devices from electric vehicles to smart phones.

“Following raising the enormous potential of lithium extraction in Cornwall in Parliament last year, I was pleased to secure a meeting with the Business Minister Richard Harrington MP and Cornwall Lithium.”
“We had a very positive meeting and the Minister agrees with us about the potential enormous benefits commercial lithium extraction would have on the Cornish economy.”
“Apart from the monetary value, securing a domestic supply of this vital component for batteries would be an enormous advantage for the UK.”
