Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, yesterday met with Sports Minister Tracy Crouch MP to make the case for better recognition for Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing.
This followed Steve raising it in Parliament earlier in the year with the Minister.
Commenting, Steve said:
“Pilot Gig Rowing is one of the fastest growing participation sports in the UK and is currently regulated under British Rowing. However they are very different types of sport.”
“I met with the Minister to make the case for better recognition and representation which could open up more promotion and funding for this growing sport.”
“I am pleased that the Sports Minister agreed with me for the need for better recognition and has agreed to work with me to achieve this.”
“I look forward to working with her in the future to get the result that pilot gig clubs across Cornwall deserve.”
