Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has today met with students from Bishop Bronsecombe School to discuss the work he has been doing on reducing the use of single use plastics and raising awareness of the need to live more sustainably.
Commenting, Steve said:
“Earlier this year I was delighted to receive thoughtful and articulate letters from children at Bishop Bronescombe School asking about issues relating to plastic waste and recycling.”
“As the Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Protect Our Waves Group, this is an issue that is very dear to my heart and because of these letters I have subsequently written to every school in Mid-Cornwall to encourage them to go #plasticfree.”
“It was great to be invited back to Bishop Bronescombe today to give an update on some of the work I have been doing both in Westminster and locally in this area, and to take a number of intelligent questions from the children.”
“Thank you for inviting me and I look forward to seeing the continued work the school is doing in the fight against single use plastic in the future.”
