Speaking in Cabinet Office questions on Thursday, Steve asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Michael Gove, to confirm that the Government’s commitment to invest in the poorest areas of the country, as part of the levelling up agenda, will include Cornwall.
Mr Gove replied positively confirming that Cornwall would be included, particularly given the particular impact of the COVDI-19 crisis on the hospitality and tourism economy in the Duchy.
Commenting after the debate, Steve said:
“I am always pleased to highlight the case for Cornwall to be prioritised in the Government’s agenda, and with the economic impact of the COVID-19 beginning to be felt by many of our businesses, it has never been more important to do this than now.”
“I was pleased at the response from the minister, and will continue to do all I can to ensure that Cornwall, its people and businesses is kept at the forefront of Government’s future plans.”
