“I was very concerned to hear that Cornwall College has made the decision to stop providing A Level courses for new students from September 2019.”
“Particularly concerning is the way in which the communication of this decision has been handled, being communicated the day before GCSE results day, a time where students will often be anxious enough as it is without needing this dropped on their laps.”
“I am seeking assurances from Cornwall College that they are doing everything possible to support the students who would have been starting with them in the September term.”
“Alongside this I have also contacted Ministerial colleagues in the Department for Education to ask if further assistance can be given around supporting students, particularly with transport concerns.”
“I am also in contact with Cornwall Council as the local authority responsible for post 16 transport to see what funding solutions there can be to support students and their families who will now unavoidably have to travel outside of St Austell to access A Level courses.”
