Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed the decision by Cornwall Council today to commit funding to fund phases 2 and 3 of the Newquay Strategic Route.
Following a vote at today’s Full Council, councillors voted to add £24.4m from the council’s budget as a loan to go towards working with the Duchy of Cornwall to deliver this important infrastructure.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I am delighted to see that Cornwall Council has supported the Newquay Strategic Route by voting to loan this money to the Duchy of Cornwall to help bring forward this vital road.”
“With all of the housing investment going on around Newquay, it is vital that we have appropriate infrastructure in place and this road will provide that.”
This is great news for Newquay and it is great to see this investment into Newquay and the economy of Mid-Cornwall granted.”
