Steve Double MP welcomes fall in unemployment in Mid-Cornwall
Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has today welcomed a continued drop in Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) claimants in the constituency.
Since 2010, the number of people claiming JSA in Mid-Cornwall has more than halved, with a fall of 55.4% from 1815 claimants in 2010 to just 810 in October 2017.
Commenting Steve said,
“This news is great as we have now seen a fall of more than 55% in the number of people claiming JSA since 2010.”
“I welcome this fall, however there is still much more to do. I will continue to work with local businesses to create local jobs and career opportunities. “
“As ever, I will keep working in Westminster, and in our constituency, to ensure we have not only more jobs available, but also ones that pay better and provide the opportunities for our young people to stay in Cornwall.”
