Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has today welcomed Minister for Exiting the European Union, Steve Baker MP, to Cornwall Airport Newquay and Newquay Aerohub.
The visit was part of a packed itinerary for the Minister throughout Cornwall to allow him to understand the concerns and opportunities around Brexit.
During his visit to Mid-Cornwall, the Minister met with a number of key stakeholders, businesses and organisations, with the Aerohub and Cornwall Airport Newquay in particular being key parts of the economic growth potential for Cornwall, as well as our growing airport bringing fresh opportunities for trade and tourism for the county.
Commenting, Steve Baker said:
“I was delighted to visit Cornwall Airport Newquay and the Aerohub today. Growth at the airport is an exciting indicator of potential for the future.”
“I was glad to meet with a number of businesses at the Aerohub and listen to their concerns around the Brexit process. I have no doubt ventures such as Bloodhound and the potential spaceport show a very clear message that Newquay Airport is a great place to do business.”
Commenting, Steve Double said:
“Clearly leaving the EU will have a major impact on business in Cornwall and will present both challenges and opportunities.”
“I am pleased that I was able to bring the minister to our constituency so that he could hear first-hand the views of local businesses.”
“I will continue to do all I can to ensure the voice of Cornwall is heard in the negotiations and that we make the most of the opportunities ahead.”
