Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has welcomed today’s announcement by the Housing Minister that the Government is providing a further £300,000 to go towards the delivery of the West Carclaze Garden Village.
In today’s announcement Kit Malthouse MP, Minister for Housing confirms that
Cornwall Council has been awarded £300,000 capacity funding to help drive design and delivery of West Carclaze Garden Village.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I welcome this funding which will provide further assistance to Cornwall Council in helping deliver this major scheme on former industrial land.
"This funding is in addition to the £2.3m the Government provided last year, as well as on top of securing a new primary school, public amenity space, £79million for a new link road and the Carluddon Technology Park."
“This goes with the more than half a million pounds of funding that the Government previously has provided to assist in the delivery of this development since 2016.”
“I have always supported the delivery of more homes for Mid-Cornwall, as there is a pressing need, especially for the future of our young people, but my support has always been on the condition that they are in appropriate locations and that we secure the appropriate infrastructure, jobs and investment to go support them. I believe that the Garden Village will achieve this”
“Once completed the West Carclaze Garden Village will also provide a new green gateway to St Austell and the surrounding area and I will continue to work with all concerned to ensure it is delivered.”
