Cornwall has been confirmed as an area that will benefit from additional government funding as part of the Trailblazers Scheme for the Family Hubs and Start for Life Programme.
This Trailblazers Scheme will lead the way in delivering the Family Hub programme by making the fastest and most innovative improvements to services and supporting Local Authorities with their expertise. To support this aim, Trailblazers will receive additional funding of up to £183,000 to undertake additional delivery in the 2022/23 year, as well support to progress further and faster, and in their role as system leaders.
This is part of a wider, Family Hub announcement in which a funding package of £301.75m is being made available towards the Family Hubs and the Start for Life Programme.
Welcoming the news was St Austell and Newquay’s Member of Parliament Steve Double, who said:
“I am delighted to see the strong bid from Cornwall Council’s Together for Families team recognised by the Government with this trailblazer status to help support families with the Family Hubs and Start for Life Programme.”
“The Prime Minister himself visited our excellent Woodland Road Family Hub in St Austell yesterday to make the announcement and spoke to the team that work there and local parents about just how these services make such a positive difference to the people who use them.”
“I look forward to seeing Cornwall take full advantage of our Trailblazer Status to ensure as many young people as possible get the best possible start for life in our Duchy.”
