The Employment Minister Guy Opperman has visited Newquay Jobcentre and award winning local Community Interest Company Newquay Community Orchard, to see local schemes to help people back into work and build positive community change.
During his visit, along with local Member of Parliament Steve Double, the Minister met with local Jobcentre staff and senior DWP managers, and then met with the team at Newquay Community Orchard for a tour of the site.
Commenting, the Employment Minister said, regarding his visit to the Jobcentre:
“It was great to meet the DWP team, and the Newquay BID in Newquay and hear about the great work they are doing to fill local vacancies and help local businesses.”
Turning to Newquay Community Orchard, the Minister said:
“The Orchard is clearly a very special multi-faceted community project
It was great to see their work so far, and see how the local jobcentre can work with them going forward. “

“It was great to welcome the Employment Minister to Newquay so he could see first hand some of the excellent local initiatives being delivered by the team at Newquay Jobcentre, as well as some of the positive social projects at Newquay Community Orchard.”
