The Government has confirmed £1.5million of funding to the Great South West, an organisation comprised of the Cornwall and IoS Heart of the South West Local Enterprises.
The funding is to help tackle and deliver key challenges and opportunities for the region and to help deliver net zero and level up the economy.
The Government has committed to empower decision-makers in local areas to deliver levelling up across the UK. This includes enabling and empowering the private sector to increase investment, jobs and growth at a local level.
Welcoming the news was St Austell and Newquay’s Member of Parliament Steve Double. He said:
“I am pleased to see confirmation of this Government funding for the Great South West, and congratulate the organisations involved for their strong bid, which I was happy to support.”
“This is additional funding on top of that which has been allocated specifically for Cornwall, and I look forward to working with all involved when it is drawn down to help make a difference for people across the region.”
