This week, First Great Western have announced a new regular, early morning train service from Newquay that will depart at 0712, on weekdays, from 13 December. This will be a real boost for commuters from the town and villages on this branch line wishing to access the mainline services.
The town’s MP Steve Double said:
“This is fantastic news for Newquay. This new timetable will undoubtedly help residents connect for commuting to mainline stations in Cornwall and further afield.”
“I have been in discussion with FGW and Network Rail for many months working to secure a better train service for Newquay and the villages on this branch line. This improved timetable is the first stage in a series of improvements for this route which will provide much better connections to and from Newquay.”
“I look forward to continuing to work with FGW, Network Rail and Cornwall Council to secure the funding to see these further ambitious plans become reality in the coming years.”
