Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has written to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sajid Javid, urging that plans for the Anaerobic Digestion plant at Higher Fraddon are rejected.
Plans to, amongst other things, increase the level of industrial traffic to and from the controversial AD plant are due to be decided by the Planning Inspectorate in an upcoming appeal.
Commenting, Steve said:
“As Member of Parliament for Mid-Cornwall I will make representations if I feel a planning application has the potential to have a major impact on its community.”
“Sadly in this case, the current operators of the plant have behaved inappropriately in constructing and operating their facility outside the terms of what was originally agreed. What the people of Higher Fraddon have to put up with already is having a negative impact on them and these plans to increase the usage of what is already there are simply unacceptable!”
“I have now written to the Secretary of State and urged him to take these points into consideration ahead of the Planning Inspectorate’s decision.”
“Even since I have written to the Secretary of State, I have had several reports of inappropriate traffic usage and even some sort of explosion on the site, which goes to show that the AD plant’s location and operation is fundamentally flawed.”
“I hope the Secretary of State will look at all of the evidence supplied and make the right and sensible decision to prevent any further damage to the community here.”
