Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed the expansion of St Austell family business Nile’s Bakery, who this week opened a new bakery and café at Carclaze.
Nile’s Bakery has opened a purpose built 8000 sq. ft. baking facility on newly acquired land at St Austell Enterprise Park. This included installing new energy efficient machinery such as ovens and freezers.
The family-run business, established in 1955, currently employs over 100 full and part-time staff from the local area across six shops and three cafés, located in St Austell, Fowey, and Newquay.
Steve visited the new site after it opened to speak to the Niles team about their work. He said:
“It's great to see one of our local family businesses expanding with the opening of this new modern bakery and cafe. This significant investment in our local economy will create and secure jobs for local people and support local businesses in the supply chain.”
“Well done to everyone involved in making this happen and especially to the Nile family for their work and dedication over many decades.”
“As someone who lives locally it was good to go along and support them with one of their famous pasties.”
Chris Nile, of Nile’s Bakery, said:
“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to grow the family business by opening our latest bakery shop and cafe with an amazing view allowing us to continue to provide quality products for our loyal customers. This investment will help us to secure our future, and that of our hard-working employees, and we look forward to continuing to create delicious products at an affordable price to be enjoyed by all.”
