Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed news that two schools in Mid-Cornwall have been successful in bidding for a share of £434m additional funding from the Government.
Newquay Tretherras and Doubletrees at St Blazey Gate were both successful in the latest round of bids for Condition Improvement Funding, with monies being allocated to fund various improvements at Tretherras and roof and fires system upgrades at Doubletrees.
The core priority of Condition Improvement Funding is keeping academy and sixth-form college buildings safe and in good working order. Most CIF funding aims to address issues with significant consequences that other revenue or funding cannot meet. These include issues with poor building condition, building compliance, energy efficiency and health and safety.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I was really pleased to hear of the success of Newquay Tretherras and Doubletrees Schools in being able to access this additional funding which will result in improvements to their buildings. My congratulations to the teams involved in their successful bids, and I look forward to seeing the money drawn down soon and the work started to improve the facilities for all who use them.”
