Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay’s office has today hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning national event.
In association with neighbouring Cafe Tengo, Steve’s office sold a wide variety of home-made cakes to the public, all in the name of charity.
Commenting Steve said;
“I was absolutely delighted to hear how many people came in to sample the delicious home-made treats we had on sale this morning. We raised over £150 which was well above our target and a real sign of the generosity of the people of St Austell and those who came in from around the constituency to contribute."
“I wholeheartedly support Macmillan in the vital work it does around palliative and end of life care and am so pleased to have been able to help in some way towards their fund raising efforts. I hope my office will be able to hold regular events for charity as we continue to work for the people of St Austell and Newquay in the years ahead.”
“I must also pass on a special note of thanks to the volunteers who stayed up all night baking the excellent cakes that we sold today, without you it would not have been possible!”
