Steve Double, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed the news that Spaceport Cornwall has signed a partnership agreement with one of the UK’s leading aerospace services businesses, Orbital Access Limited.
Commenting, Steve said:
“This is great news for the continuing growth of the Cornish space sector, which includes Cornwall Airport Newquay, Goonhilly Earth Station and the wider aerospace supply chain in Cornwall, and has been made possible by the grant supplied by the UK Space Agency from the Government as part of the UK Spaceflight Bill.”
“I have worked hard to champion the bid for Cornwall Airport Newquay as the best location for the UK’s first spaceport.”
“Bringing the Spaceport to Cornwall would revolutionise our local economy, bringing unheard of levels of investment and create 1,000 new, well paid jobs. This will continue to be a top priority for me if I am re-elected next Thursday.”
