Steve Double, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed the latest drop in unemployment in the constituency.
The latest figures released recently by the Office of National Statistics, show unemployment in St Austell & Newquay at its lowest since the last election, with only 1,151 (2.5% of the economically active population) now registering as unemployed.
Commenting Steve said, ‘These excellent figures reinforce what I am regularly being told when I visit and talk with local businesses, that the Conservative led Government’s long term economic plan is working .’
‘However there is still much to be done. If elected in May 2015, I will continue to work in Cornwall and Westminster, within a strong Conservative Government to guarantee the right decisions continue to be made. This will ensure that we keep growing the local economy and creating jobs, so that more families in St Austell and Newquay can have the security of a job and a regular pay packet, as well as raising average wages and providing better paid, secure jobs for our young people.'
