Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, yesterday joined with the other Cornish MPs to meet at Number Ten Downing Street and discuss how the Prime Minister’s Plan for Working People in Cornwall, which the Prime Minister launched in Cornwall before the election, can be prioritised and pushed forward.
Commenting, Steve said,
“For the first time in generations, Cornwall is represented entirely by Conservative MPs. With Cornwall Blue from Penzance to Saltash, the six Cornish Conservative MPs are a strong, unified force for Cornwall. I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that Cornwall has a strong voice within Government at Westminster. The previous Government already achieved much for Cornwall, with, amongst other achievements, 19,000 more people in work since 2010 and Income Tax cut for 230,000 Cornish people, but with a Conservative majority Government now in place, there is so much more we can achieve. We are rolling up our sleeves and getting on with the hard graft to ensure the people of Cornwall get the very best possible deal from this Government”.
