Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed the announcement today by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport Jesse Norman MP that Cornwall Council has been successful in a bid for £1,160,000 to improve the A3058 from Quintrell Downs to Summercourt.
Commenting, Steve said,
“As someone who has driven the A3058 between St Austell and Newquay regularly throughout my life I know what a dangerous section of road this is and it is also an issue that local residents have often raised with me.
“In 2016 I was delighted to see the Government recognise the danger and confirm that Cornwall Council would be eligible to bid for funding to improve it.”
“It is great to see today that Cornwall Council has been successful in its bid for more than £1,000,000 of funding from the £100m national pot and I commend the team at Cornwall Council for putting the bid together.”
“This sum fully funds the improvements and I look forward to seeing it be completed in the 2020/21 year.”
