Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has met with concerned local residents and management regarding the Fraddon Biogas Plant.
Commenting Steve said:
“This is an issue I have worked with residents regarding prior to my election and after speaking with so many local people about it I am aware of the strength of public opinion in Fraddon against the plant as it currently operates.”
“It is clear to me that Cornwall Council should never have allowed the plant to be built so close to residential properties and at the end of a narrow and unsuitable access road.”
“I have recently met with the plant’s new director, Darren Stockley, who I believe is taking a much more constructive approach and addressing concerns of local residents”.
“However the big issue is the access to the plant by a large number of huge lorries. The only real answer is to have permanent access to the plant opened direct to the A30. I will continue to press the case for this with the Roads Minister Andrew Jones MP, who I recently visited the site with, and has agreed to look at the suggestions I raised.”
