Steve Double, Parliamentary Candidate for St Austell and Newquay, welcomed the Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling to Mid-Cornwall to discuss the proposed A30 link road to St Austell.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I was pleased to meet with Chris Grayling to discuss the much needed A30 link road to St Austell.”
“We visited local residents to hear first-hand how they have been affected by the levels of traffic and to get their views on the proposed link road. Residents were overwhelmingly positive in their support for the direct route from the A30 to St Austell and the surrounding area, highlighting the important of taking traffic away from Roche, Bugle and Stenalees.”
“The application for funding the £85 million road with preferred route recommendation is currently with the Department for Transport for consideration and I expect the outcome will be announced shortly.”
“It is very good news after 20 years of discussion that we are so close to seeing this vital road built.”
“Should I be re-elected on 8th June, I will continue to work with colleagues in Cornwall and in Westminster to ensure we get the investment needed to improve our transport infrastructure to facilitate growth in employment and address congestion in our towns and villages.”
