Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed the latest £40 million round of applications of Coastal Community Funding, announced today by Coastal Communities Minister, Jake Berry.
This is the latest batch of millions of pounds of funding targeted to transform the UK's coastal communities through investment in jobs, skills and local businesses. So far 500 new businesses supporting 5,500+ jobs have been created thanks to the fund.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I welcome the fifth round of funding for Coastal Communities, which Cornwall has benefited from in the past, and encourage coastal communities in Mid-Cornwall to consider making an application, for this funding which has a proven track record of revitalising and regenerating areas where it is awarded.”
“I have written to all coastal Parish and Town Councils in Mid-Cornwall and asked them to get in touch with me should they require help in making an application and am willing to support appropriate bids as they come forward.”
The closing date for submitting expressions of interest for the main funding round in England is 30 April 2018. The Government is also looking to fund a small number of revenue projects which are ‘ready to go’ and can be fast tracked. The closing date for applications wanting to be considered for ‘fast track’ approval is 2 April 2018.
