Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has today welcomed a continued drop in unemployment benefit claimants in the constituency.
The number of people claiming unemployment benefit in St Austell and Newquay constituency is 95 lower than May 2017 and 100 lower than May 2018.
Commenting Steve said,
“I welcome this fall, both year on year and month on month, however there is still much more to do. I will continue to work with local businesses to create local jobs and career opportunities. “
“Universal Credit is now being rolled out in Mid-Cornwall and I will soon be visiting local Jobcentre Plus offices to see for myself how the rollout is going.”
“As ever, I will keep working in Westminster, and in our constituency, to ensure we have not only more jobs available, but also ones that pay better and provide the opportunities for our young people to stay in Cornwall.”
