Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has welcomed the Strategic Planning Committee’s at Cornwall Council’s unanimous decision today to approve plans for the St Austell-A30 link Road.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I am delighted at the decision today by the Strategic Planning Committee to unanimously approve the St Austell link road plans.”
“Thank you to committee members who voted, as well as local Councillors Sally Anne Saunders and John Wood and council officers for making such a strong case.”
“People have been asking for this road for years. It will be of such benefit to St Austell and the surrounding area, relieving pressure on Roche, Bugle and Stenalees while providing economic benefits and a more direct route to Cornwall Airport Newquay.”
“The construction of a new A30 link road was my top priority when I first stood for election in 2015. I am delighted to have secured £79million of central government funding for this road and this decision today is another big step forward to seeing it happen.”
“Now the plans have been passed I am keen to see the work start on site on this major project as soon as possible.”
