Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has welcomed the decision by Cornwall Council’s Cabinet today to award £12 million funding for Spaceport Cornwall.
The award brings the project, which will see Cornwall become the base of the country’s first horizontal launch spaceport, move closer to fruition.
Commenting, St Austell and Newquay Member of Parliament Steve Double said:
“I am delighted that the Cabinet of Cornwall Council have this afternoon approved the Council's support for Spaceport Cornwall with a £12 million investment.”
“Having worked to bring the UKs first horizontal launch spaceport to Newquay Airport, since before I was elected in 2015, including securing £7.85 million of Government funding, I am pleased that we remain on track for lift off in 2021.”
