Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay, has been promoted to lead Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Department of Health and Social Care by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Commenting, Steve said:
“I am pleased the Prime Minister has promoted me to the lead PPS for the Department of Health and Social Care.”
“This follows on from my work in the department as a junior PPS last year and I am pleased to be now supporting Secretary of State for Health Matt Hancock direct, a post which carries greater responsibility.”
“With investment in the NHS in Cornwall at record levels, with real term funding increases, as well as additional monies for projects such as the new mother and child unit at Treliske, new inpatient mental health facility for young people at Bodmin, and £450million for a new hospital in Cornwall, it is an exciting time to be part of this Department which is delivering for our Duchy.”
“As before, serving and representing the people of the St Austell and Newquay constituency on local and national issues will always be my priority, and I will continue to use this position to ensure I am able to do this even more effectively.”
