Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Michael Gove has today confirmed that Cornwall Council will be receiving a share of an additional £50million of Government funds to tackle homelessness.
The Government has announced today that an additional £50 million that will be made available to local authorities in England in 2022/23 through a top-up to the Homelessness Prevention Grant.
The additional funding will support local authorities such as Cornwall Council to help prevent vulnerable households from becoming homeless.
Commenting, St Austell and Newquay’s Member of Parliament Steve Double said:
“As the nights draw in it is more than important than ever that local authorities like Cornwall Council get the funding they need to tackle homelessness over the coming months.”

This additional £50 million investment builds on the £316 million in funding already available to local authorities through the Homelessness Prevention Grant for 2022/23, bringing total spend through that grant to £366 million. This is part of £2 billion of Government funding to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping over the next three years.
